✨✨ FULL CREDIT to Jacob Breitmeier for creating The Land of Bryer and everything in it. He is the mastermind behind this homebrewed world. So if ya wanna use any of this, it’s probably best to take it up with him or roll for initiative haha. ✨✨

for top serial! What an honour! She fell back down in her space, feeling defeated. She had just watched her teddy burn up, she didn’t know where her mom was, and the screams around her were ear-piercing. The smoke was getting thicker and suffocating. It was getting harder for her to breathe, and she could no longer see through her floorboard as the flames burned everything in its path.
Is this what death feels like? Is this how I’ll die tonight?
She started feeling the flames reach her and lick at her skin. However, it didn’t burn her. It didn’t even hurt her. She couldn’t understand why. As the brothel crumbled around her under the fire, here she was, trapped but untouched. She breathed into the cloak her mom had wrapped her in to help with the smoke.
Moments went by, and things started to get quieter. The screams were distant or had stopped, and the scary men were no longer yelling. The only sound left was the roaring flames.
With most of the floor burnt up, Lilith grabbed her cloak and tiptoed out toward the hallway. There wasn’t much of a hallway left or even the brothel. All she saw around here was charred remains of furniture and fallen wooden beams. She snuck through what remained of the halls and could see the charred bodies of the ladies who worked there.
As she moved further and further, she could see others died of stab wounds. Some had their clothes torn off and bore signs of torture. She started crying. These were the same ladies who were nice to her. They would take turns caring for her if her mom had to work. They had taught her how to read, draw and sing.
Then, something caught her eye. She noticed a pair of legs sticking out from a room. A room she had been to many times. It was Boa’s. A lady who she had particularly really liked. Boa had taught her how to cook and would always play with her. She ran over to look, hoping for any signs of life. Boa lay there, lifeless, unclothed, and her throat was slashed open. She was lying in a pool of blood, and parts of her were burnt from the fire.
Lilith fell to her knees and let out a loud wail. She let her tears flow freely but that was cut short when a wooden beam came down on Boa, barely missing Lilith. She gasped and fell backwards. She quickly rubbed her eyes. The soot on her face was spread around as she did that. She grabbed a nearby burnt-up blanket and placed it over Boa before running off to find her mom.
When Lilith made it to the back door, she poked her head out to make sure none of the scary men were still around. The moon was shining brightly, and she could see bodies strewn all over the ground from those who tried to escape. She went to check on the bodies, hoping it wasn’t her mom.
In the distance, she saw someone kneeling over a body and lifting it up into their arms. She could make out the fox ears illuminated by the moonlight. “Vix!” she cried. Lilith felt a wave of relief and started running full speed towards her. This woman was like a second mother to her. The woman she could count on. “Vix!” she cried out again. But Vix didn’t look up.
Why can’t she hear me? I must get closer.
Lilith ran faster, calling out again but Vix did not hear her. Her lungs started to protest as she ran. All the smoke she had breathed in had not helped her. She fell over coughing. Then she saw Vix stand up and run off toward the city. She knew it was useless, but she held out her arm as if reaching for Vix and cried, “Vix!!! No!! I’m still here!!” But it was too late.
Lilith got back up and stumbled toward the body that Vix was holding.
Why would she have left the body there? Is mum okay?! Please, mum, be okay…
When she finally reached the body, all her fears came true. It was her mom.
Her lifeless body was lying under the moon. She had a knife sticking out of her chest, and her dress was torn off from the top. Her eyes were opened and were blackened over with no signs of life left. Lilith fell onto her mom and hugged her body. She could feel her mom’s blood pour onto her legs. Her body was getting colder with each passing moment. Lilith let out a guttural roar as her entire life was ripped from her in just one night.
Everyone that she had loved was gone that night. She was now all alone and scared. A rush of anger and rage all of a sudden took over her. She started pounding her small fists on her mother’s stomach.
“You said you would come back for me!” she cried her heart out.
Then she heard a rustling noise. She perked up to look around but couldn’t see anyone. She didn’t want to get caught in case it was any of those scary men that may have stuck around. She quickly grabbed her mom’s necklace, kissed her cheek, and whispered, “Mum, I’m sorry, I need to run. I love you.”
With that, she ran off toward the dark forest, tears streaming down her face, feeling as alone as ever, with rage bubbling inside of her.
