Ranking F1 2024 Tracks From the Heart
With another racing weekend in the books, I want to try to rank all 24 Formula 1 tracks that are on the calendar this year. Although there are 25 races, there are two weekends that take place at the same track.
I’ll keep the babbling to a minimum so we can run down the list in the simplest way possible, starting with the worst. I will say, though, that this was no easy task. There were some tracks where I was really torn about where to rank them.
24. Saudi Arabia - Jeddah Corniche Circuit
Boring race in a questionable country with too much money. Easy. Last place.
23. Abu Dhabi - Yas Marina Circuit
Sure, it’s the last race,
and I’ll always make time for it, but it sure is a boring race. Although it’s a night race with cool fireworks, it’s still a snoozefest.
22. Miami - Miami International Autodrome
A man-made swimming pool to put a bunch of stupid yachts in it. Need I say more? Not to mention the endless celebrity appearances that no one cares about. The track isn’t super exciting, either.
21. Qatar - Losail International Circuit
Again, it's another country with lots of money bringing another boring track straight to you.
20. Spain - Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya
This one was tough to put near the bottom since it’s a classic track. It’s been around for a while, but the results are usually pretty predictable.
19. Mexico - Autodromo Hermanos Rodriguez
I feel this track could also be better. I love the energy of the fans and all those showing up to cheer on Checo.
18. Sakhir/Bahrain - Bahrain International Circuit
This track is good, but it could be better. Both Sakhir and Bahrain take place on the same circuit. With Sakhir being the new season opener though, you’ll be catching me waking up at an ungodly hour to watch it.
17. Australia - Albert Park Circuit
Another track that could be better. It’s a good track; nothing super exciting about it. It was the season opener at one point so that places it higher on my list.
16. Hungary - Hungaroring
This track is no stranger to F1, considering it’s been on the calendar since 1986. It’s designed to be like a karting track so it always offers an exciting watch.
15. Las Vegas - Las Vegas Strip Circuit
I was torn about this one, so I put it in the middle of the pack. It’s only got one race, so it’s tough to rank. It’s definitely over the top (because Vegas) and, at times, cringey. Not to mention pricey! But the first race was hella fun to watch.
14. Brazil - Autodromo Jose Carlos Pace
Better known as Interlagos, this track features the Senna S, as it should. Considering Senna is the most famous Brazilian driver to ever grace F1. With Brazilian fans bringing the carnival vibe, this race is always one to catch.
13. Netherlands - Circuit Zandvoort
Just glad they brought this one back. As a Max Verstappen fan, it’s awesome seeing how insane this crowd is, considering it’s his home country.
12. USA - Circuit of the Americas
Before Miami and Las Vegas, there was Austin, and it was great. This track combines all the greatness of other tracks and sews them together. Think of Frankenstein!
11. Monaco - Circuit de Monaco
It’s not F1 without this track. Should it be higher? Perhaps for some. For me, as iconic as it is, it’s also hella boring. With cars being bigger now than they were back then, it’s tough to do any real racing.
10. China - Shanghai International Circuit
After being away for four years, I’m glad it’s back. The track is great, and I love the fans. Just like the Japanese fans, the Chinese fans also show up in amazing costumes and gear. I also loved the little celebration they gave Zhou Guanyu since he is the first-ever Chinese F1 driver. It was a touching moment.
9. Azerbaijan - Baku City Circuit
For a street race, this one is really fun to watch. There are always a few surprises in every race. For those who play the F1 racing game, I seem to always get my ass kicked on this track.
8. Singapore - Marina Bay Street Circuit
The original night race is still the best out there. Other night tracks can only dream of coming close to being this awesome. Would love to attend this race in the future.
7. Italy - Autodromo Nazionale Monza
Monza never fails to entertain. Like the Red Bull Ring, this has a simple enough layout but plenty of room for tricky corners and speed.
6. Austria - Red Bull Ring
As I mentioned with Monza, this track also has a simple layout and is thrilling. Why did I put this one higher than Monza? I guess I like Red Bull. I have no other reason.
5. Emilia-Romagna - Autodromo Internazionale Enzo e Dino Ferrari
Formerly known as Imola, this track is a classic. It is rich in history, most notable in the passing of the legendary Ayrton Senna. Since then, the track has been safer, thank God! With 19 corners, it’s a challenging and thrilling track.
4. Canada - Circuit Gilles Villeneuve
With the infamous Wall of Champions and always seeming to get some rain, this track always has surprises up its sleeve. I may be a bit biased since this was the first race I’ve ever been to live, and I love it.
3. Belgium - Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps
Take me to the spa. No, not that spa. This Spa!! Need I say more?
2. Great Britain - Silverstone Circuit
It's not just an original but one of the best. It withstands the test of time, hence taking second place on my list. I will never miss this race as it's always a fun race. Another circuit that I would love to attend in person.
1. Japan - Suzuka International Racing Course
The fans, OMG, the fans. Literally the best in the world with their elaborate costumes. They always stay after the race to clean up the bleachers, too!! Drivers always receive the coolest gifts here from fans. Hulkenberg even said that he always brings an empty suitcase because of all the gifts he receives. But hands down, the best track in the best country. That, or I’m just a weeb (I suspect my boy Alonso is too!!).
And there you have it! I tried my best. How would you rank your list?
