I usually don't release anything on a Monday, but as we head into the Formula 1 summer break, I wanted to write about some updates before we go through a whole month without any races. With an exciting Belgian GP that just happened and waking up to some news, I felt it appropriate to share.
New Sainz-ings!
I’ll show myself out with that subheadline, LOL. Anyway, breaking news! We finally get closure on Carlos and where he’s going. Annnnnd, he’s going to Williams!! We now have an appendix-free team; they’ll be faster than ever!! (IYKYK)
All jokes aside, I get we all want to see him on a better team, but perhaps it was the right move for him. He was in talks with all the teams, and maybe what Williams offered is most likely what he wants and needs. Perhaps, this is a Sainz that we will start seeing Williams in the points more often! I don’t know about you, but I would love to see more of that.
In other news, we have Ocon going to Haas. My question is, why? Ollie, who will be new to F1 starting in 2025 and will have a shot at the Ferrari seat in the future, will need a good guide. Ocon doesn’t have a good track record of getting along with his teammates, but I guess we will have to wait and see. Perhaps 2025 will be the year he gets it together.
Poor George
Belgian GP gave us another set of podium winners. I would not have guessed it would be a Mercedes 1-2 to begin with. My prediction about Max was wrong. I thought he would win or at least make the podium. He ended up in 5th, which is now bumped up to 4th.
Although, as we all know, George was unfortunately disqualified after the race for having an underweight car. Obviously, this is not his fault at all, and he put on a brilliant race.
New podium standings are:
Lewis Hamilton
Oscar Piastri
Charles Leclerc
Hamilton Regrets?
With Mercedes coming back strong in the last few races, the big question on everyone’s mind is, is Hamilton regretting the move to Ferrari? If he is, he’s not saying it out loud. But what we do know is, Lewis just doesn’t make any move for the sake of it.
We all love to make fun of Ferrari. I do, too, but I also believe that Fred is cooking up something, with Lewis being the secret ingredient. We may see Ferrari rise again.
Let Rumours Be Rumours
Rumours have circulated that Red Bull may be changing its mind about Perez and is in talks with Yuki. As much as I want to see Yuki in that seat, I don’t think this is true. Red Bull signed him for another two years, and he brings a lot of sponsorship money. It won't be this season if they decide to make any moves with him.
Another point I should bring up because so many are talking about it. Yes, Checo got P2 in Qualis and yes, he ended up finishing P6 in the race. However, please take into consideration the strategy that Red Bull put him in as well. Plus, he only finished two places behind Max. Don’t just look at the results to say bad things about the driver without any context behind it. It just wasn’t Red Bull’s day overall.
Happy Birthday Alonso!
Let’s kick off the summer break with a big happy birthday to our man, Fernando Alonso!
With ten races left in the season, let’s hope everyone gets a well-deserved break. What are your thoughts on the Belgian GP and the recent signings? Any predictions for the rest of the season? 🏎️🏎️
I see they are keeping Perez until the end of the season, i just hope he can continue to perform like he did this past weekend.
and I wanted to tell you about Carlos, but you beat me to it lol.
I’m glad you took the F1 this week. I had to write about the USWNT, coming later tonight. I like you, usually don’t publish Mondays haha
