Another Monday edition?! It’ll be a while until the next one, don’t worry. But can we talk about Summerslam, which happened over the weekend?! I know, as a new fan, what do I know? But since getting hooked on the sport at Wrestlemania 40, I’ve been having so much fun following it all.
It’s literally D&D but for gym bros. If anything, it’s also been helping me get into storylines and roleplaying. Anyway, here’s my breakdown of the live event!
Judgement Day Drama
As a gothy gal, I’m all for Judgement Day. Rhea, Damien, and Dominik have been my favourite wrestlers since Day 1. The match between Rhea and Liv was fun. It was not as great as the other matches, but OMG Dom betraying Rhea was crazy! Then he goes and makes out with Liv LOL!! I mean, we all guessed it, but to see a heel turn heel?! Only Dom can pull something like that off. He went from being Rey’s kid to being a modern-day Eddie. Best character ever.
Finn Balor though, why did you go and do Damien dirty?! With Damien losing his belt, it looks like we may get a Rhea and Damien team-up. Goodbye Judgement Day.
Damn! Four Title Changes?!
I hear events back then didn’t have a lot of title changes. This weekend, we had four title changes!! Triple H ain’t kidding around. No one is safe with him being the Dungeon Master.
Sami Zayn lost to Bron Breakker
Nice clean fight between them. Not mad about Bron winning, even though I had thought Sami would keep the belt.
Logan Paul lost to LA Knight
I hate Logan, but he’s so fun to watch! This match was my second favourite of the night.
Also, doesn’t LA Knight look like the Tres Commas guy in Silicon Valley? 😆
Bayley lost to Nia Jax
Bayley has been boring since winning, so I’m happy to see Nia win this one.
Damien Priest lost to Gunther
Best fight of the night!!! Just pure power and height. So much chopping that Gunther actually bled! Obviously I was cheering for Damien but I’m not mad Gunther won, he’s so cool.
Why Do People Like CM Punk?
Being a new fan, I must be missing something. Everyone cheers for this guy. He didn’t even put up a good fight, Drew is also much better on the mic. I’m also biased and love Drew McIntyre, though. Maybe Punk was good back then, but I think his time is over. Glad Drew handed it to him. 🤭
OMG, Roman Reigns is Back!
If you thought Summerslam was crazy the whole night, it ends with Roman Reigns coming back! The match was between Cody Rhodes and (Temu) Bloodline with Bloodline rules. I think that means they all come out to fight. But then Roman came out at the end to take down Solo to prove that the real Tribal Chief never left. Ugh, that was so cool!! I won’t lie; I screamed when he came out.
My Picks and How They Held Up
My husband and I and our friends always like to predict who will win each match before the event. Here are my picks, the results, and my rating of the match.

Can’t Wait for Raw and Smackdown This Week
I thought Money in the Bank was a great live event, this one knocked it out of the park. All the matches were solid. I lost my voice the next day, which never happens just sitting on the couch. I’m really looking forward to the aftermath and stories after this weekend. With Judgement Day in ruins and the whole Bloodline thing happening, I can’t wait to see what goes down.
What were your favourite matches of Summerslam?
Liv vs Rhea I think they were holding back a little on purpose because Rhea is just coming back from injury. Also because we all know the focus of the match is the story of what dom's gonna do, but you can bet their eventual rematch will crazy. Priest and Gunther was CINEMA
I enjoyed reading your post a lot and reading about your perspective as a newer wrestler viewer. Your insights on Summer Slam and the various wrestlers in general were interesting, and you did a great job conveying excitement over what you liked and explaining why you liked it. From a long-time wrestling viewer, great job overall! I encourage you to write more reports on WWE shows.
